December 3, 2016 in the village of Iszkaszentgyörgy, Hungary will be the final events dedicated to completion of the «Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture in 2016» the year of the international project. Special guest of the event was the Erzya folk group OYME.

15:00 Reception. Welcome speech by mayor Attila Gáll, member of the Hungarian Parliament Gábor Törő and Petri Tuomi-Nikula ambassador of Finland. Presentation with illustrations by Dániel Waliduda project coordinator. Exclusive guests: Choir of Primary School of Iszkaszentgyörgy, Erzya folk music group OYME and khanty folk singer Larisa Miljakhova.

«Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture» is a MAFUN program to support the development of the territories, populated by Finno-Ugric peoples by means of arts and cultural exchange. The program was launched in 2014; the first Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture became the Starye Bygi village in Udmurtia. In 2015 this title was passed along to the Obinitsa village in Estonia. The cultural capital of the Finno-Ugric peoples in 2016 and became a village Iszkaszentgyörgy and city Veszprém in Hungary, and in 2017 had the honorable mission of the Karelian village Voknavolok. MAFUN is an international association of youth organizations of Finno-Ugric and Samoyed (Uralic) peoples. MAFUN’s objectives are the support of Uralic languages and cultures, strengthening the cooperation between Finno-Ugric peoples, regions and countries, protections of the rights of indigenous peoples as well as promotion of the cultural, economic and social development on the local levels.
